Joan’s Olympic Gym and Fitness Center offers an excellent variety of gymnastics programs designed to develop children’s abilities from a very early age. From 2 years old until well into their teens, athletes can train with our professional instructors and receive the insight and skill sets they need to become champions. Recreational Gymnastics and Gym Tots
All of our gymnastics programs enhance self-confidence and develops self-discipline for boys and girls, starting at age 2. We stress proper warm-up exercises and conditioning, plus development in strength, flexibility, agility, balance, and coordination. Gym Tots classes meet once a week for 40 minutes. Recreational Gymnastics classes meet once a week for 60 minutes.
Tumble Bugs, Jr. Gym Team & Skill Team
Students are selected “specifically” by their ability. They will travel with the Elite Gym Team to perform exhibitions, throughout the New England area. Tumble Bugs and Jr. Gym Team work out twice a week for 120 minutes. The Skill Team meets once a week for 90 minutes.
Physical Training Program for Boys
Our physical training program is offered for boys ages 6 - teens. Program includes calisthenics, promotes muscle tone, aerobic fitness, and gymnastics. It also focuses on building your child’s self-esteem. Classes are held once a week for 60 minutes.
ABC, 123 Play School with Gymnastics and Crafts
This fun and lively program is available for children, ages 3 and 4. This is a movement education program that simultaneously teaches the ABC’s, 1,2,3’s, and colors! This program is 2.5 hours long and meets two or three time per week.
Prep Team / Elite Gym Team
Throughout this program, we take a more intensive, developmental approach and focus on teaching progressive gymnastic techniques to serious-minded gymnasts. Our team is in The South Shore Independent Gymnastics League (SSIGL) and we focus on preparing the athletes for High School Gymnastics. Several gymnasts also compete in the national meets as well. The girls who are selected practice three times a week for a total of 6 hours.
All team members are expected to take part in competition and exhibitions; including an annual Half-Time Show for the Boston Celtics at the TD Banknorth Garden. The Prep Team meets 2 days a week for 4 hours. The Elite Gym Team meets 3 days a week for a total of 6 hours.
